National School of Public Health and Sanitary Management (SNSPMS)
Founded in 1992 within a Program financed by the World Bank, SNSPMS represents one of the institutions proud to have a long time tradition in research and training for public health and sanitary management.
Founded in 1992 within the program financed by the World Bank the NSPHHSM is one of the institutions that can be proud of a long tradition in research and training in public health and health services management.
Being one of the traditional partners of the Ministry of Public Health (MPH) and the National Health Insurance House (NHIH), NSPHHSM represents in the same time a permanent source of expertise, analysis and recommendations for the decision makers in public health and not only.
The present name, NSPHHSM, dates from 2006 when it was made the re-organization of the National Institute of Research-Development in Health (NIRSH).Its mission is to contribute to the creation of a health system where each citizen can have access to quality medical care according to his/her needs.
The values that define the NSPHHSM activity are: professionalism, communication, innovation, integrity. Among the activity areas where NSPHHSM has a significant we mention:
- Training through post-university studies in public health and management
- Research in public health and health services
- Technical assistance in implementing the reform of health services, both for institutions within our country and international ones
- Activities of promoting health
- Organizing events.
Within the 6th Round of the programs financed by Global Fund, NSPHHSM will carry out the following projects and activities:
- "Training the journalists for reflecting the TB in mass-media". The purpose of this project is to sensitize the public opinion, community members to the Tuberculosis issue, to fight against stigma and discrimination of the TB patients, but also to mobilize the political involvement and allocating the material and financial resources to support the persons affected by this disease. The beneficiaries of these activities will be journalists, TB patients and their families, general population.In this respect 40 journalists will benefit of the 4 training sessions organized by NSPHHSM, being followed by a mass media monitorization and the published articles analyzing the way the TB issue is presented.
- Elaborating a National Strategy of Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization regarding TB", that will aim to develop the community's support and the political involvement in the TB control.
Therefore, during 2008-2009, NSPHHSM will implement this project that has the following target groups:
- Patients or former patients of TB, who will be trained for providing useful messages within the communities they belong to and who afterwards will make some viable partnerships with local institutions competent in this area;
- Decision makers in TB control in Romania - will elaborate the National Strategy of ACSM regarding TB.
