Youth for Youth (TNT)
Youth for Youth Foundation (TNT) is one of the most active non-guvernmental organizations in the field og informing, educating and approaching the specific youth problems. A large number of young people, coming from all social and cultural levels, take part as volunteers at activities initiated and supervized by TNT.
Founded in 1991 aimed to involve in the social issue of youth in Romania, TNT represents one of the national, independent, created by youth for youth organizations.
The network, represented by various and extremely attractive programs that TNT carry out, covers Bucharest and other 11 counties in Romania: Dambovita, Maramures, Iasi, Vaslui, Botosani, Ilfov, Tulcea, Mehedinti, Teleorman, Constanta, Timis.
TNT collaborates closely both with governmental institutions (Ministry of Education, Research and Youth, Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform) and with representatives of civil society, non-governmental organizations (ARAS, SECS, PSI, Save the Children, Consortium AJDM, Education 2000+, CPSS, and Concept).
These activities' main objective is to improve and maintain the population's health status, especially youth's.
With the technical and financial support of the financing programs and international donors - GFATM, UNFPA and JSI R&T / USAID - the obtained results were outstanding as regards the number of trained and informed people, who come from different professional/occupational groups: pupils, students, teachers, medical and non medical personnel from military units, officers, petty officers and soldiers from military units and schools.
Within Round 6, TNT plans to implement for two years (2007-2009) the project "Acquiring some adequate knowledge, practices and behaviours regarding vulnerable groups who are in the temporary arrests of the police, on STI/HIV/AIDS and substances abuse".
This project was proposed by the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform - The Medical General Directorate (MIRA) and the Young for Young Foundation (TNT), has as a main objective training the medical and non medical personnel who works in police arrests with vulnerable groups in Romania, regarding STI/HIV/AIDS and illegal substances use.
The project will take place in 22 counties in Romania and in Bucharest.
The method that TNT plans to use in order to reach the objective is to elaborate two training sessions for the medical and non medical personnel who work in police arrests, where they have direct contact with the project's targeted groups, namely the commercial sex workers and the intravenous drug users.Find more about TNT on: www.y4y.ro.
