Red Ribbon Foundation Falticeni

Red Ribbon was founded in 2005 aiming to provide specific support and assistance services for HIV infected people from Falticeni.

At its beginnings, in 2005, the Red Ribbon Foundation was set up in order to provide specific support and assistance services for PLWHA within Falticeni and other 9 close by villages.

The closed village where the HIV infected people and their families could benefit of such services was at that time Suceava, which is long way from Falticeni.

The trip to Suceava, would have been very difficult for the HIV infected people with major health problems and in the same time pretty expensive for PLWHA families with reduced material possibilities.

At the moment, Red Ribbon has over 125 beneficiaries, 36 out of them being direct beneficiaries aged between 12 and 18 years old, most of them being teenagers.

The activities carried out by the organization can be summarized such as:Within the 6th Round of Global Fund, the Red Ribbon Falticeni Association intends to implement the following projects and activities:

  • "Education for life", project that consists in setting up support and counselling groups for approaching the following topics: family planning, prevention of unwanted pregnancy, drug use, prevention of sexual transmitted disease among PLWHA. These activities of information and counselling will be carried out in 21 localities of Suceava county, the used method is the peer-to-peer education;
  • Developing some protected workshops, having as main objective the professional integration of young people living with HIV. This project will be carried out in 9 cities including the occupational therapy for hospitalized people;
  • Organizing internships and vocational training for PLWHA.

These activities and objectives will be reached with the contribution of the Foundation for People's Development (FDP) under the partnership with Red Ribbon.

Right from its foundation, Red Ribbon has been a member of UNOPA, focused on organizing and carrying out advocacy and lobby activities for promoting and defending the rights of the people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS in Romania.
