"Noua Speranta" ("New Hope") Association from Petrila

The association was founded in 2002, having the mission of defending and promoting the rights and interests of the persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA).

The programs and activities implemented by the "Noua Speranta" Association from Petrila were very diverse: the Renovation of the headquarters; program financed by RICOP Craiova; social assistance, psychological, vocational and legal counseling for the beneficiaries of the association; food support for PLWHA, given by CARITAS BUCHAREST; Seminaries of information of PLWHA regarding the HIV infection, program founded by SMILE ROMANIA APPEAL; Monitoring of sero-positive persons from county Hunedoara, 2 projects financed by UNOPA; Information of the members of community in the domain of HIV/SIDA;· the commemoration of the victims of HIV/AIDS annually, with the occasion of the International AIDS Day, by different actions; Socializing and spending the spare time for beneficiaries.

Under the 6th Round of the Global Fund HIV/AIDS Grant, the "Noua Speranta" Association in Petrila will implement a series of projects of social integration and professional for seropositive persons who live in Valea Jiului area, such as:

  1. "Education session for life" - target YPLWHA and includes information about familial planning and avoidance of undesired pregnancies, communication, including communication in th ecouple and with the family extended as well as some abilities of independent life, Duch as: a healthy meal, self - management (administration of incomes, payment of utilities etc) and identification of some ways of spending the free time.
  2. "Protected IT workshop " - includes the endowment of computer science and classes for the improvement of the knowledge of the beneficiaries about the computers and applications on the computer, use of peripheric equipments and the internet.
  3. "Vocational Training for PLWHA" - for the improvement of chances of social integration and identification of a job, for 6 beneficiaries will be assured the necessary expenses for training and obtaining the driver's license.
