Lizuca Association (Association of PLWHA In Bacau County)
Founded in 2000, the "Lizuca" association has the purpose of defending the right of persons infected with HIV and to support their families from the social, psychological and material point of view.
From the moment of its foundation and until now, "Lizuca" developed complex programs, of which we can mention:
- "Initiative for promotion and efficient defending of the rights of the persons living with HIV /SIDA"- financed by the Global Fund for the Fight against HIV/AIDS, TBC and Malaria by UNOPA -developed in 2004-2005
- "Involvement of PLWHA Organizations in service delivery for PLWHA"- financed by the Global Fund for the Fight against HIV/AIDS, TBC and Malaria by UNOPA -developed in 2005-2006
- "Information = independence"- financed by the Foundation Principesa Margareta a Romaniei-project that set the sights on the information of young sero-positive people about their state, about the disease HIV/AIDS, following the elimination of self marginalization and self isolation.
- "The National Conference for the education of the parents in the view of offering HIV/AIDS support and preventing the family and emotional abandon"- financed by funds of the Agricultural department of USA by the International Partnership for Human Development Program and the Association Caritas Bucharest, developed by UNOPA and the member associations.
- Project of nutritional support - financed by the Government of USA by the IPHD Program and Caritas Bucharest - developed since 2002-2006, wanted to be a support for the families that have in maintenance seropositive persons.
- Campaigns of non - discrimination of seropositive persons - financed by JSI in 2004, 2005 and 2006, by which was marked the International Day of fight against AIDS. Partners in the development of these Campaigns at Bacau were: AJPS Bacau, ARAS Bacau , Day Section "Floarea Soarelui" Bacau, DGASPC Bacau, OAMMR Bacau, The Prefect's Office Bacau, Town halls from Buhusi and Onesti, schools from different localities of the county Bacau.
During the 6th Round of the Global Fund, "Lizuca" will implement the Project: "Vocational Trainig and apprenticeship stages for PLWHA, education for life" (family planning, undesired pregnancy, consume of drugs, prevention of infections with sexual transmission), having as partner the Foundation for the Development of Nations.
The purpose of this project is constituted by the training and education for life of 192 young people that live with HIV/AIDS, with the residence in county Bacau, by activities of counseling, foundation of some groups of support with the following theme: family planning and avoidance of undesired pregnancies, consume of drugs (approximately 80 persons of the 192 ones), prevention of infections with sexual transmission etc.From the information related to family planning and avoidance of undesired pregnancies will benefit the seropositive young people who will begin or have already began their sexual life, who got married or are going to get married, the young women sero-positive, including the ones who became mothers.
These information, absolutely necessary, will contribute at the avoidance of an epidermic wave of HIV in Romania.
Also, by this project will be formed 7 groups of peer-educators, sustained by 4 persons already trained for this.
Because one of the purposes of this project is that of offering vocational courses for 10 persons affected by HIV/AIDS from Bacau, they will benefit of stages of training, in order to get a job.
By participating to the courses of vocational courses, the young people will may develop abilities to have an independent life and to choose an ulterior occupation.
