Invitation to contribute to the development of Romania’s application for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

Following the decision of the Country Coordinating Mechanism for the programs financed by the Global Fund, the Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation ensures the technical secretariat for the development of Romania's application for Round 11 of financing, TB component.

In this capacity, the Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation invites all the institutions and organizations interested in strengthening the National Program for Tuberculosis Control to contribute to the development of Romania's application for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Round 11 of financing.

This approach is part of the wide consultation process that the Country Coordinating Mechanism for the programs financed by the Global Fund together with the Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation have launched in order to develop a successful proposal that will contribute to strengthening the National Program for Tuberculosis Control.

The contributions must fall into the following types of interventions:

1. Strengthening the capacity of national reference and regional TB laboratories to perform rapid tests to early detect multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB).

2. Provision of a comprehensive package of psycho-social support (including incentives - food, transport) to MDR TB and extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) patients in order to increase treatment adherence and prevent MDR/XDR-TB transmission in the general population

3. Training of medical staff working in pneumology hospitals and dispensaries in MDR-TB and XDR-TB case management

4. Capacity building for TB patient organizations through transfer of expertise from HIV / AIDS patient organizations (strategic planning, organizational management, project management advocacy)

Those interested may send their contributions electronically (click here for template download) to tb@raa.ro until 25 November 2011.
