HIV/AIDS Civil Society Forum reunion

The HIV/AIDS Civil Society Forum (CSF), advisory body of the Directorate General for Health and Consumers within the European Comission, met in the week 1-6 th of May in Brussels.

The meeting was attended by representatives of institutions and non-governmental organisations ac tive in the field of HIV/AIDS from member states of the European Union or neighbouring countries, members of CSF as well as guests from European institutions. Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation has been attending CSF meeting since 2007, as member of CSF.

The agenda included, among others, a presentation of the Communication Plan of CSF, conclusions of the report concerning the criminalization of HIV transmission in Europe, results of the campaign for HIV testing "I know what I'm doing" recently developed in Germany, launching of EMIS project (European MSM Internet Survey on Knowledge, Attitude and Behaviour as to HIV and STIs), a presentation of the Fundamental Rights Agency for human rights and HIV infection, updates of UNAIDS, WHO and ECDC with regards to activities related to HIV/AIDS underway or planned for 2010, details of the International HIV/AIDS Conference planned for July, in Viena.

In addition, one of the issues approached was the support and continuity of HIV/AIDS related services in the context of the current economic crisis. This allowed the participants to exchange information, proposals and strategies. At the same time, the main issues discussed during the meeting were included on the topic list of the CSF Think Tank organised the following day, where representatives of CSF were invited to attend along with delegates from national or European institutions.
