Training workshops organized by the Project Implementation Unit - Tuberculosis (PIU-TB), National Administration of Penitentiaries

Between the 22nd and 31st of March 2010, the Project Implementation Unit for the TB Program (PIU-TB) within the National Administration of Penitentiaries organized at Sovata, Mures County, 3 training sessions for the staff in penitentiaries.

The project is developed through the TB Grant financed by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Round 6, through Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation and aims at improving measures for tuberculosis prevention and control in penitentiaries. The central objective of the sessions is to train professionals to organize and carry out information and education activities for TB prevention among inmates.

During the training sessions, the participants were given de opportunity to gain and develop knowledge and abilities related to communication, general principles for education of adults, structuring an education session for inmates, using e-learning modules etc.

Through presentations and practice, the trainees had a good opportunity to develop communication skills, to formulate and transmit messages related to the importance and means of TB prevention in penitentiaries, to select and apply the method for education of adults which was considered most appropriate for the subject of the sessions, to include and use throughout the training modern interactive methods to stimulate the interest of the participants.
