PSI and Condom-a-Porter

The Romanian National Art Museum (RNAM) was the host of an outstanding show on Wednesday, May 14th.
To its organization contributed Population Service International (PSI), nongovernmental organization that carried out developed prevention and information programs, such as television stars, people from the show business, fashion designers.
For creating this cloths collection, the designer Carmen Secareanu designed, tailored, sew and presented cloths accessorized with condoms. Why condoms? "For the moment, we try to fight against HIV/AIDS launching a trend: it's cool to wear the condom, it is cool to be aware and what can be cooler than being responsible as a teenager", states Carmen Secareanu.
The event that enjoyed the participation of some special invitees is part of a great campaign initiated within the "I do what I want, but I know what I am doing", which encourages, by outstanding means, a responsible sexual behavior among youngsters.
The purpose of these activities is exactly to promote by specific, new and exciting methods some norms regarding HIV prevention and unwanted pregnancies.The conclusion of the project's coordination team is that in order to be used, the condom shall be an object perfectly integrated in the youngsters' lives without moralizing but succeeding to convince.
Nevertheless, the condoms used to make the accessories for the cloths are the ones used on 28th October 2007 to make the world's longest chain of condoms. With this chain of condoms, the program "I do what I want, but I know what I am doing" succeeded to enter in the Guinness World Record Book.
The fashion world exerts a special attraction to youngsters: creates and easily promotes trends, including the one of being responsible with your sex life is trendy …
The fashion show was followed by a gala where a well known television presenter, Gianina Corondan, awarded the design contest of port-condom condoms organized by the program "I do what I want, but I know what I am doing".

At the end of the ceremony, David Reene, the Director of PSI Romania, awarded Loredana Groza an Award for Social Involvement in the Fight against HIV/AIDS - for the support provided to the social program very well known by youngsters.
