15 March 2008

Social and professional integration of the youth who are in difficulty, especially of those living with HIV/AIDS and who almost reached the maturity represents a major problem that needs a quite urgent approach and solution.

It also represents a preoccupation of present interest for the organizations that elaborate and develop programs of counseling, assistance and support for HIV/AIDS youth.The need of training it is identified both for HIV/AIDS youth and their families and educators.

In order to meet these needs of training and information, the Foundation for People Development (FDP) organized during 10-14 March a seminar for the social workers who provide services for HIV/AIDS infected/affected people.

The 20 attendees are representatives of the organizations that carry out programs and activities of professional and vocational counseling in partnership with FDP and with the 6th Round of Global Fund.

The seminar's objective was to increase the level of professionalism of the personnel who carry out counseling activities for professional and vocational orientation of the people living with HIV/AIDS.

The training sessions and the workshops were held and moderated by professionals; the experience exchange and identification of new modalities of approaching this subject and youth motivation are only two of the topics that determined discussions and debates.

This training session's topic was interesting and of present interest:

  • Career counseling for seropositive youth;
  • Personal marketing, labor market, gender equity;
  • Development of an educational program of counseling tailored to the target group;
  • Barriers and difficulties in programs for professional integration of HIV positive youth.

The work methodology that was the basis of defining the training agenda was used in the program, "Education for life".

The seminar's works enjoyed of a real interest among the attendees, the professional integration and the vocational counseling issues among HIV positive youth is one of maximum interest for all those present.

One of the attendees, project coordinator and social assistant, stated at the end of the training session: "What I've learnt here means a lot to me. At the beginning I accepted to attend in order to fill up the information and to find new ideas and models. I will go back home with a lot of ideas that for sure I will try to practice. And the experience exchange with the colleagues was useful. No matter the experience you already have, there will always be something new to find out, something that can be used in the daily work in the benefit of seropositive youth..".

Moreover, the significant experience of FDP in this field brought an added value in professionalism, involvement and training's efficiency.
