The House of Parliament played host to the first meeting between the Gouvernment and the Civil Society
14th of January, 2008
At the end of the last year, Foundation of Civil Society's Development (FDSC) initiated a meeting between the nongovernmental organizations and associations and the represent ants of the political power.
As always, FDSC dedicates most of its activities to the improvement of the capacity building for the nongovernmental sector in Romania.
The meeting had over 130 participants, representing NGOs from different domains of activity.
The meeting, who took place at the House of Parliament, in Nicolae Balcescu official room, was a measure of FDSC's success in implementing the project " The contribution of the social civil society in ongoing process of taking legal decisions during 2007", ruled on during 2 months, November-December 2007.
The event, financed by the Romanian Parliament through the Chamber of Deputies, had the purpose of evaluating how the Romanian civil society contributed at the ongoing legislative process during 2007.
The debates, moderated by FDSC, were interesting and very useful. One main conclusion summarizes this meeting: the members of the Parliament and the Chamber of Deputies encourage NGOs participation at debates dedicated to different legal decisions.
The dialogue and the collaboration between the governmental institutions and the civil society is a measure of the political maturity. The nongovernmental sector from Romania is going to achieve this maturity, its role in the consultative process being more and more often present in this kind of public debates.
At the same time, the meeting organized by FDSC was a very good opportunity to know each other and to share experience, best practice examples being numerous, from all kind of interventional areas.
Closed in the warm atmosphere of Winter Holidays, this first meeting Govern-Civil Society marks a first , encouraging step forward on the way of establishing a constructive and real dialogue between parts.
