A new meeting of the advocacy working group
INITIATIVE GROUP MEETING
One of the permanent concerns of the program's implementing organizations and institutions consists in taking over and continuing these activities also after the funding from external sources has been stopped.
This subject of great interest has been approached many times by the Implementers of Round 6.
This is why, in January, Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation hosted the second meeting of the initiative group, in order to ensure sustainability.
Mr. Codru Vrabie, experienced trainer and consultant in the non-governmental field in Romania, moderated discussions and facilitated consultations.
A first meeting of this group took place in December last year, and among participants there were organizations which develop activities under Objective 1 of the Grant Agreement.
The activities and programs of this first objective aim to prevent HIV infection among vulnerable groups.
The discussions, which lasted many hours, had pointed out the difficulties that implementers anticipate occurring in their further programs.
Of training, the best solution would be the involvement of local and governmental authorities in taking over and funding these public interest programs.
The second meeting, which took place on January 24th, gathered for the debate, organizations that provide services and support for people affected by HIV infection.
The participants had once more the opportunity to discuss the difficulties they face when collaborating with local and governmental authorities. One of the conclusions was that it is needed the authorities' support to implement these programs designed for persons infected with HIV / who have AIDS.
Both meetings ended with the conclusion that the community's involvement and especially, the involvement of local authorities, is necessary in order to ensure continuity of services and activities for vulnerable groups.
The final purpose of these meetings is creating a strategy through which program sustainability is ensured, aiming for a better communication and collaboration between local and governmental authorities.
The following meetings will be at the beginning of March, when identified solutions will be included in an advocacy and sustainability strategy.
