MDR-TB Guide for Patients

In collaboration and under the supervision of the scientific staff of the Pneumophtiziology Institute "Marius Nasta", The Project's Implementation Unit (UIP-TB), elaborated and finalized a new informative-educative material: "MDR Tuberculosis - Patient's Guidelines ".
The issue of the multi-drug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) is one of interest in our country, considering the circumstances that in the past years the number of patients having this form of TB is increasing.
MDR-TB presents certain features regarding diagnosis, monitorization and treatment needs a specific approach, meant to significantly improve the chances of healing these patients and to reduce the risk to sicken the others.The guide elaborated by UIP-TB and meant by the patients with MDR-TB provides correct and complete information, stated in a manner easy to be understood and assimilated by the target group.
Among the themes approached in this guide, we can stipulate the followings:
- General information of tuberculosis and especially the MDR-TB;
- Ways of transmitting the tuberculosis and prevention measures;
- TB locations and population groups with increased infection risk;
- General principles of treatment and recommendations regarding the life style of the TB patients with MDR-TB;
- Advice and recommendations for TB patients and their families.
This guideline, elaborated with the financial support of Global Fund within the 6th Round, will be disseminated through the network of pneumophtiziology cabinets, medical units and hospitals.
It is expected that these useful information will reach a high number of patients and also their families.For sure it will be a useful work instrument both for patients and specialists of the TB network, contributing to increasing the compliant to patient's treatment having this form of tuberculosis.
