Bucharest VCT Center has changed location
18 of April, 2008
Starting with this week, Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre (VCT centre), who had previously functioned, beginning with October 2004 at Cantacuzino Institute from Bucharest, has moved at the ground floor of Diham Policlinics, no 2, Cobalcescu st.
This new space was recently renovated and accommodated for the benefit of its beneficiaries. The working program is also established in order to ensure the access at HIV/STI voluntary counselling and testing services for a large number of persons from general population.
To this centre anyone can address who wants to know its own HIV status, without being necessary for counselling and HIV testing a special receipt or recommendation from the doctor.
VCT centre ensures free counselling and HIV testing, performed by specialized personnel, in the respect of confidentiality.
The advantages of HIV testing accompanied by pre and post-test counselling are: complete and correct information about the ways of transmitting the HIV infection, ways of preventing it's transmission, personalized risk assessment, personal risk reducing plan and a referral system for newly HIV diagnosed persons to the medical and psycho- social support services.
For further details and planning you can phone at 021 315 92 69, contact person: counsellor Aida Necula.
The VCT centre was founded in October 2004 by Romanian Angel Appeal Foundation (RAA), in partnership with the Public Health Authority of Bucharest. The centre is part of a 18 VCT centres network, founded by RAA in 16 counties and Bucharest, financed by the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria through the Project Management Unit of Minister of Public Health.
